What are Magical Folk Saying about W&R?

Why Wizards & Relics is a must have Expandable Card game

5/5
It's the magical dueling game I always wanted! Wizardly characters, fantastical items and just the right touch of humor in the illustrations and flavor text. I'd play it over and over.
5/5
I fell in love with W&R the first time I played it! It was easy to learn, which was very nice for my wife and I because we had never played card games like it before. Each round you discover different strategies. I can't stop thinking about it!
5/5
It’s not something big and flashy, but it’s incredibly fun and easy to learn. The mechanics of the game are sound, rewarding repeat play but not being so complicated as to shut out new players or younger players who might be unfamiliar with card dueling.

A fantastic game! Do you have what it takes to be in the Hall of Immortality?

  2. Mark

Simple game with nice depth. There’s more to it than meets the eye, yet it’s very accessible! Fun with great artwork!

  3. Mike S

So much fun and so easy to pick up! It’s hard to find a game that offers a lot of replay value and different experiences each time, that is also quick to pick up. Wizards and Relics is exactly that. It’s fun game that has depth but that you don’t have spend hours of precious gaming time to learn. And further more being able to play with as few as two players makes it very accessible.

  4. Nick

A great “Gateway Game” for the people in your life! It is very easy to learn while still having great depth of strategy for such an easy to grasp concept!

As someone who is constantly teaching people new games, Wizards and Relics is one of my new go-to games! It is extremely easy to teach (Play 1 Wizard and 1 Relic) but is still fun for the teacher and has lots of great moments and upsets!

  5. JJ (Josh) Rathkamp

An incredibly easy to learn and extremely fun game, that isn’t as simple as it seems on the surface. There is a bit of complexity and strategy that make the game enjoyable and gives it a great amount of replay-ability.

  6. Jamin

A fun game that’s fresh every time!
Because of the way you divvy the cards out, and because of the Shrines it really keeps things fresh and interesting. You are trying to make the most out of what you’ve got but sometimes you have Literally Nothing at All :).

  7. Floaty Float Float

Wizards and Relics is simplistic at its core, yet contains strategy aplenty when you really dive into it. This game thrives in competitive 2 players matches but is still perfect for game nights with 4 players! There is truly nothing more magical than crushing your rivals with Floaty Float Float. Like what an awesome fricken name.

    You gotta get this game.

This game is a easy-to-learn, strategic, and just fun. It is going to be consistently at my table for a long time!

Honestly I’m blown away by wizards and relics. It is not often that you can find a game that is great for the whole family, and I mean the whole family – not just the kids while the parents suffer through it. It also isn’t just a game for kids and families, it’s great for all ages and comfort levels (with card games or other table top games) Wizards and Relics is a great game for the whole family and on top of that you also get incredible quality. The art is thoughtful and stunning and the names oft witty. The entire game is well thought out and crafted. It is my go to recommendation for anyone looking for a new fun game to play!

  10. Jonathan Huisinga

We’ve played properly with a “fair” setup and with a quick setup: just separated the wizards and the relics into two piles and dealt them all out. We enjoyed both methods equally!

Observations from playing with my three kids:
My 14 year-old had to be dragged away from the computer at the beginning but then VOLUNTARILY requested a second game (it must be fun).

My 12-year-old grinned sinisterly when he figured out a sweet card combo that won him game #1 (also immediately requested a second game).

My 8-year-old loves the drawings, and while she doesn’t totally get the more advanced mechanics, she’s able to pick up a hand of cards and play without too much explanation. She missed the first game, but begged to join us after seeing the cards and watching a round of game play.

Upside: Pretty cards, interesting mechanics that create some depth, but simple to pick up.
Downside: Two sessions in, and I have not won a game!

Well done Mike and team, it’s wonderful to have this in the house!

  11. Brian S.

The art is beautiful, cards feel good in your hand, and the combos generated are super satisfying. This game is quick to teach and learn, but long on fun. Well worth the pick up. Support this wonderful wizardly creator, and you definitely won’t be disappointed.

  12. Barnabus Wohler

I backed this game thinking I would play it once or twice, like it and maybe never again. I cannot express how wrong I was. I’ve played this game with everyone who can sit still for 20 minutes.

The game has an easy setup. Learning the rules is quick. Have the rulebook ready for the first round, after that the only reason I needed it was for definition clarification.

Fast paced, stetegic card drafting done right!

  13. Tim Davis

This game is unique in that it can accommodate casual or competitive players. Casual players can randomize the decks before playing for a quick and easy setup, but there’s also the option to draft cards to build more fine tuned decks.
As a retired trading card game player, Wizards and Relics helps scratch that itch when I get it!

  14. Ashley

This game is easy to learn, doesn’t take long to finish, and the artwork is AMAZING! I love that even though it is simple to pick up and play, it is still complex and different every time you play. Definitely a must-have in your game collection!!

  15. Chris D

What a fun game! We play it with the kids, the grandkids, each other – it’s a rare gift to find a game that appeals to all age groups.
